![]() As many Softimage customers now know, when you install both Softimage and the license server on the same Vista or Windows 7 computer, you cannot use the computer name to specify the location of the license server. In previous posts, I said that in this case, you had to either use the IP address, or install the IPv6 update. But it turns our there is a simpler way: use the IP address 127.0.01. There’s no need to install the IPv6 update. |
To update your setenv.bat to use 127.0.0.1:
-
Start the User Tool (click Start > All Programs > Autodesk > Autodesk Softimage 2010_SP1 x64 > UserTools).
-
In the list of Configuration Files, click Setenv.bat (Environment Script).
-
Click Edit File.
-
Scroll down and edit the line that sets _ADSK_LicServers:
rem License servers specified from the setup. Format: [port1]@host1[;[port2]@host2]... set _ADSK_LicServers=@127.0.0.1
-
Click Save and Close.
What is the enviroment variable to set the license server on Linux? I’m trying to get xsibatch to work on a headless linux machine that doesn’t run X. My license server is a windows machine and set _ADSK_LicServers does not seem to work on my linux box. Thanks!
On Linux, you set ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE in the .xsi_2011 file:
# Set the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE
setenv ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE “@mtllsprd01”
i do i edit the .xsi_2011 file ?
i had try with a text editor but the text come all mess up.
thks
On Linux, the .xsi_2011 is a plain text file. You should be able to use any basic text editor.
Hi Autodesk,
I`ve been a user of Softimage since 2008,when it still wasn`t part of Autodesk.
Recently I`ve installed Windows7 and reinstall XSI7.0 on the same machine that I used it on.
When doing so, it told me that the license I have and the database doesn`t match up.
And so I couldn`t use it.
Could you help me with this problem?
Here is my information.

Also, asking me to buy/upgrade to 2010 is out of the question since I currently don`t have the financial ability to do so.
For licensing issues with XSI 7.0 and earlier, you can use the web form at http://autodesk.com/softimagemanualactivation to request a new license.
XSI 7 licenses are tied to the computer, and when you install Windows, that breaks the license.
