When you install Softimage and the license server on the same Vista or Windows 7 computer, you’ll get the “no interactive network license available” error unless you do one of the following:
-
Use the IPv4 address, not the computer name, to specify the location of the license server
-or-
-
Install the IPv6 update for the Autodesk Network License Manager.
By default, on Vista and Windows 7, IPv6 is enabled, and when IPv6 is enabled Softimage cannot use the computer name to connect to the license server. This happens only when Softimage and the license server are on the same computer.
So I was having this issue all of the time, followed the suggestion on various websites and Softimage had been running strong for months. 2 days ago, all of the sudden I start getting this error message again and I have no clue what to do anymore. Any help?
Start LMTOOLS and check that the license server is still running.
Then check that ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE is set correctly.
I updated to IPv6, I checked FlexLM and the same error happens when I try to run Softimage.
“There is no Interactive License Available” LMTools doesn’t display a license, arghh so frustrating. I’ve read up to six different pages on this issue, none of them solved the problem.
LMTools doesn’t display a license ? Then that is your problem.
And without any details, I cannot help or diagnose the problem.
What details do you need ?
1) What version of Softimage do you have?
2) From LMTOOLS:
– the output of Perform Status Enquiry
– the debug log file
3) The SoftimageLicense log file:
%TEMP%\SoftimageLicense.log
4) The setting of the ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE and SILicMethod environment variables:
Open a Softimage command prompt, and run this command:
set ADSKFLEX
What is the output ? It should output the name of the license server, with an “@” symbol before it. For example, “@myserver”.
Now run
set SILicMethod
5) The output of ping and telnet, on the workstation where you are trying to run Softimage.
what is the output when you ping the license server?
eg ping myserver
Can you telnet to the ports on the license server?
In a command prompt, run these commands and send the output:
telnet myserver 2080
telnet myserver 27000
thanks
