I have done my render slave setting just like you describe in video but I have some issues at my main computer. I installed mi-raysat but it just can’t start. I’m seeing raysat server in windows’s services screen but when i try to start server, it comes an error says that
” The RaySatsi2013_3_10_1_7 Server on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other servers or programs”
I’m using SI2013 SP1 with Windows 7 OS.
Do you have any opinion for fix this ?

Did you update the services file?

If that is not the problem, open a Softimage command prompt and try starting the service there. You may get an error code that will help.
Yes. I added this line in “services”
mi-raysatsi2013_3_10_1_7 7004/tcp
and then in the command prompt, I wrote this:
c:\…\raysatsi2013_3_10_1_7server /install
raysat server installed but then failed to start (error code 1092)
I tried to start it manually with your description then again I’m getting same error you wrote above
This is strange. My render slave working just fine with this setup. But main machine can’t start raysat server.

Wow. In the “services” file I wrote this
mi-raysatsi2013_3_10_1_7 7007/tcp
instead of
mi-raysatsi2013_3_10_1_7 7007/tcp #
I added # char at the end of the line and raysat server running like a ferrari.

I have a problem with the satellite in Softimage 2013,I followed the video at the top of the discussion and it all went well, the service is running, the port 7027 is open, but Softimage don’t use the slave machine. Please help me?

Your slash is leaning the wrong way. Try “/install”.
ok. the services is running now on two maschines… but what should be in the rayhost file…i just put in the maschine name. 7027 of both moschines

then i started softimage, try to render something, but it still uses only one maschine… the main maschine.
is it something because of the firewall? i did it excactly like in the movie
How can I check if the satellite maschine is really reachable for the master maschine?
Or do I have to switch satellite rendering on? Where? I just changed the rayhost file in the user tools.
There’s not a lot of diagnostics for satellite, but you could use Process Monitor. I have a post about that…just search the blog for “satellite”
