Up until late 2008, Softimage wasn’t the name of a software product. It was a company with its own unique history, culture, and mythology. For many of us who worked there, it was a special time and place, and a lot of it happened in this building in Montreal.

What happened to that building? Does Autodesk still own and use it?
The building is still there 🙂 There’s a different restaurant on the ground floor now. And the SOFTIMAGE sign is long gone.
Autodesk never owned it or rented space there. It was Avid back then. They may still maintain an office there; it is still listed on the Avid web site http://www.avid.com/US/about-avid/office-locations
I don’t get downtown that much, since I now work from a home office.
PS – Is this the same building your banner picture comes from?
Yup. That was just around the corner, on the side of the building facing the street that we’re looking up in that pic. eg facing the steetlamps
