From the Plug-in Tree, you can quickly open up Windows Explorer (or a Command Prompt) on the location of a workgroup, plugin, or addon. Just right-click a folder in the Plug-in Tree and click Explore (for Windows Explorer) or Command Prompt. Or click Browse to open a Softimage browser.
Not everyone knows it, but the ability to import 3ds files, which was removed in XSI 7.01, came back in Crosswalk 2012.
Just click File > Import > Import FBX, and then click 3D Studio 3DS (*.3ds) in the File Types list.
You can quickly copy colors by dragging and dropping color chips. This comes in handy when you’re copying colors from one shader to another.
ICE tree views are typically locked, so that they don’t constantly update while you’re working with a scene and selecting different objects. But what do you do if you want to select an object referenced in the ICE tree? Do you have to hunt down the object in the explorer?
Nope. As of 2011.5, you can right-click a Get Data node to select the referenced object.
This works with the self, this_model and this_parent tokens too.
It also works on an Get Data inside a compound, if the Get Data In Name is connected to a valid reference. So, you don’t need to exit a compound just to select an input object.
